MSU Institute for the Humanities fellowship proposals now open

Mississippi State University’s Institute for the Humanities -- housed in the College of Arts and Sciences -- is excited to announce applications are open for the 2025-2026 Institute for the Humanities Fellowship, designed to empower faculty to make meaningful strides on their humanities-related research and creative projects.

Funded by the Institute and the College of Arts and Sciences, the prestigious fellowship offers faculty a one-course release during the Spring 2026 semester, along with $1,000 in discretionary funds to support their scholarly work. Whether it’s advancing a book manuscript, diving into archival research, conducting fieldwork or developing innovative courses and public humanities initiatives, this fellowship provides dedicated time and resources to help faculty focus and flourish.

All College of Arts and Sciences faculty engaged in humanities-related projects are encouraged to apply, but preference will be given to associate professors.

Fellowship awards will be announced in September. Faculty can apply through the online submission portal, accessible via the Institute for the Humanities Fellowship announcement page by clicking the login button here. The deadline to apply is August 27, 2025.
