University continues mask requirement through Feb. 1

As classes resume Jan. 18 in the face of a major Covid-19 “Omicron” variant outbreak across the nation, region and state, Mississippi State University will require masks to be worn inside all university buildings.

Effective Jan. 10, the requirement applies to all students, faculty, staff, and visitors through Feb. 1 and will be revaluated at that time after the university receives guidance from the Mississippi State Department of Health and federal public health officials.

The mask requirement extends to MSU classrooms, labs and studios during scheduled class times. MSU employees may require masks to be worn inside their personal offices -- and employees may remove masks in their personal offices.

MSU’s COVID-19 task force recommended the university require all vaccinated and unvaccinated persons to wear a mask while indoors. Masks will continue to be required for everyone inside the Longest Student Health Center.
