Flu shots available by appointment at Health Center

The seasonal threat of flu and pneumonia can result in illness or hospitalization. The Longest Student Health Center at Mississippi State University and the Mississippi State Department of Health recommend flu shots for everyone six months of age and older, especially young children, adults 50 and older, pregnant women and those with a chronic illness.

Flu shots are available at the Health Center through Dec. 22 by making an appointment at 662-325-7539. For university employees, the shots can be filed to AHS insurance and are covered under the wellness allowance.

Other ways to do your part in keeping the Bulldog family healthy are to:

-- Wash hands often with soap and water.

-- Avoid close contact with others who show signs of illness.

-- Toss tissues in the trash after one use.

-- Cough or sneeze into a tissue or your arm, not your hands.

-- Hibernate if you’re sick. Don’t infect others you may encounter.
