Flu shot clinics underway with two this week
University Health Services has scheduled a series of flu shot clinics this fall, and the next one will be held Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the atrium of McCool Hall. In order to keep our campus healthy, everyone is urged to get a flu shot.

Komen breast cancer exhibit here Wednesday
As part of the university's observance of national breast cancer awareness month, Mississippi State will be host to a well-known traveling exhibit on Wednesday. The distinctive pink "Komen on the Go" interactive mobile display will be located 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in front of the Colvard Student Union.

Monday deadline for ORED cross-college grants
The Office of Research and Economic Development is again soliciting proposals from Mississippi State faculty who desire to create cross-college research groups on campus. The grants are intended to facilitate interdisciplinary interaction between faculty and students that have a common research theme. The deadline to submit a proposal is Monday.

FBI biosecurity workshop on campus next week
Biosecurity and safety will be examined in detail next week during a free workshop at Mississippi State. Experts from the FBI will be at the university Oct. 18 to share information and provide training for researchers, faculty, staff and students, as well as law enforcement officers. Area first responders, health care providers and biotech company employees also are invited to participate.

Benefits open enrollment through Oct. 25
Benefits open enrollment for eligible Mississippi State employees will be held Oct. 1-25, according to Human Resources Management. Open enrollment changes include adding new coverage, changing existing coverage or canceling coverage. The changes become effective Jan. 1, 2012.

Eudora Welty exhibit on display at MSU Libraries

Orders are now being accepted for the biography of Mississippi State's legendary sports broadcaster. "Jack Cristil: The Voice of the Bulldogs" is written by university alumnus and veteran newsman Sid Salter. Best-selling author and fellow alumnus John Grisham is providing the book's foreword.

AD announces Galbraith, Thomas promotions
Joe Galbraith and Chad Thomas have been promoted to assistant director of athletics for media relations and assistant director of athletics for marketing, respectively, Mississippi State Athletic Director Scott Stricklin announced last week.
Razzaghi selected as Fulbright Scholar in Romania
Mississippi State's mathematics and statistics department head will spend part of the 2011-12 academic year in Romania as a Fulbright Scholar. Mohsen Razzaghi will teach and research at the Technical University of Civil Engineering in Bucharest, Romania. He begins his Fulbright appointment this month.
CVM's Pegasus Gala: 30 years in the making
In 1981, the College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University conferred doctor of veterinary medicine degrees on 25 new graduates. Thirty years and over 1,300 graduates later, the college is welcoming its first graduating class back this week to enjoy the Pegasus Gala, a celebration including dinner and tailgating, fellowship and tours, and performances by special guest Jack Hanna.
Holocaust survivor shares her story Monday
Holocaust survivor Ann Jaffe will visit Mississippi State on Monday and share personal experiences from one of the most tragic and significant events of the 20th century. Sponsored by the university's Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President, the free program begins at 4 p.m. in McCool Hall's Taylor Auditorium.
