'Successful Grant Writing' seminar Monday

Eudora Welty exhibit on display at MSU Libraries
"Eudora Welty: Mississippi Daughter," an exhibit in conjunction with Mississippi State University's Maroon Edition, is on display on Mitchell Memorial Library's 2nd and 3rd floors through December 2011 and highlights the literary career of Mississippi's much-honored author.

Jack Cristil book orders now being accepted
Orders are now being accepted for the biography of Mississippi State's legendary sports broadcaster. "Jack Cristil: The Voice of the Bulldogs" is written by university alumnus and veteran newsman Sid Salter. Best-selling author and fellow alumnus John Grisham is providing the book's foreword.

Football hosts Louisiana Tech at 6 p.m. on Saturday... Men's Tennis opens play in the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Ga., on Friday... Volleyball travels to Fayetteville for a match against Arkansas on Saturday and will be in Baton Rouge on Sunday to face LSU. Soccer is on the road to LSU Friday and Arkansas on Sunday.

University's innovation focus paying dividends
Mississippi State officials are reporting significant progress in ongoing efforts to foster entrepreneurship and innovation and move more university-developed technology into the marketplace. That optimistic assessment comes as the White House turned its attention last week to the vital role major research universities play in the nation's economy.
Bowden named associate dean in BCoE
A Mississippi State alumnus with more than 25 years experience as a faculty member will become associate dean for academic affairs in the Bagley College of Engineering. Royce O. Bowden Jr. officially assumed his new role Sept. 16.

The president of The Wildlife Society will be featured Thursday at Mississippi State's 2011 Carlton N. Owen Lecture Series. Tom Ryder, wildlife management coordinator for Wyoming's Department of Game and Fish, will begin his public presentation at 1:30 p.m. in the Tully Auditorium of Thompson Hall.
Fire Safety Day set for Wednesday
