A Mississippi State University Extension Service specialist has joined a national collaborative founded to guide climate change research.

Beth Baker, associate Extension professor of natural resources and agricultural ecosystems, was nominated to join the National Climate Change Working Group.

The primary goal of this group will be to generate a guide for national climate change research and nationally funded science programs to address climate change challenges in agriculture and natural resources over the next 10 years.

Members represent a wide range of academic disciplines in the agricultural, natural and climate sciences. The group comprises 50 experts who will identify key research, education and extension questions that will form what the group calls a National Climate Change Roadmap to address the impacts of climate change on agricultural production in the U.S.

The roadmap development process will be guided by Colorado State University in partnership with nonprofit consultancy Meridian Institute.

MSU is Mississippi’s leading university, available online at www.msstate.edu.
