DAFVM Spotlight Employee: Marquita Sinclair Thomas

Marquita Sinclair Thomas

When Marquita Sinclair Thomas sees bright smiles on the faces of the children she works with, she knows all of her hard work has paid off.

Thomas is a program assistant for the Mississippi State University Early Years Network. She provides assistance to the reference and referral center, prepares everything needed for the early childhood center and helps with office management.

“I enjoy when every area of our network comes together, including people that I normally do not see because we are not in the same department,” she said. “Witnessing all of the different entities involved in this network is incredible.”

Working with children is always an enjoyable experience.

“Getting to work with children is my favorite part of my job,” Thomas said. “The look on their faces when they are interacting with me or other workers is special every time. Doing activities with the children brings joy to both the children and me.”

Thomas’s job is time-consuming but also very rewarding.

“One thing I wish people knew about my job is how demanding it is,” she said. “We are always busy, whether that is training individuals or maintaining the resource and referral center, we are constantly working. All the work is well worth it though, and it is very gratifying.”

In her spare time, Thomas enjoys reading, exercising, riding horses and spending time with her family. She has a husband, Danny Williams, and two children, Jerrell, 8, and Janae, 6.
